Sauder Funeral Products Moves to Expansive Facility; Positions Casket Business For Growth0ARCHBOLD, OH – Sauder Funeral Products, a wholly-owned entity of Sauder Woodworking Co., has moved its funeral products manufacturing division into a larger facility on its campus in Archbold, Ohio.

“We are excited about the fact that we have outgrown our existing space,” said Dan Sauder, vice president of engineering and new markets. “This factory move, necessitated by strong casket sales and expanded distribution of our product lines, allows us to improve our production efficiencies as well as add much needed capacity.”

This facility expansion is the second one for Sauder Funeral Products in two years. Since 2010, when the company occupied a 35,000 square foot manufacturing space, SFP has seen steady growth in its casket business and, like before, this newest factory utilizes the strengths of the parent company. SFP component parts are produced at Sauder’s ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture division which operates three production shifts covering nearly four million square feet of manufacturing capacity.

“The past few years have proven our casket product line to be a key growth opportunity that leverages Sauder’s core strength of offering an incredible value to our customers,” said Sauder. “This great value proposition has generated much interest from distributors all around the U.S. and Canada.”

In addition to its unparalleled value, sustainability has been another key ingredient to the success of the SFP casket line. SFP caskets are made with engineered wood, an environmentally responsible material made from high quality soft and hardwood trimmings and other formerly wasted wood products that remain after the milling of lumber and plywood. At 99% combustibility, SFP caskets are suitable for both burial and cremation.

“We have seen trends toward consumers buying more reasonably-priced caskets and environmentally friendly products,” added Sauder. “Our caskets are positioned to help funeral homes take advantage of these trends.”

Sauder Funeral Products will exhibit October 7-10 at the NFDA International Convention & Expo in Charlotte, NC, booth #234. The company will also exhibit November 5-6 at the CFSA Fall Conference & Trade Show in Indianapolis.

Headquartered in Archbold, Ohio ever since its founding in 1934, Sauder Woodworking Co. is North America’s leading producer of RTA furniture and the nation’s fifth largest residential furniture manufacturer.

Sauder Woodworking Co. is a privately-held, third generation, family-run business. Subsidiaries include: Progressive Furniture Inc., a manufacturer and importer of traditional solid wood, veneered and laminate furniture; and Sauder Manufacturing Company, a leader in church, educational, and health care seating.
