Under this scheme, Tamkeen's contribution will be 50%, up to a maximum of BD150,000, of the cost of the machinery and related costs.

Enterprises seeking to benefit from the Scheme must have an active Commercial Registration Certificate, earn annual revenue equal to or more than BD5m and must be able to provide audited financial statements.

Furthermore, the enterprise should commit to hire minimum two Bahrainis or increase the wage of at least 2 existing Bahraini employees by at least BD50 per month. Applications will be evaluated and approved by Tamkeen's Enterprise Development Support team.

Tamkeen VP for Enterprise and Human Capital Development Dr. Ahmed Abdulghani Al-Shaikh, said, "Business firms have received another incentive from Tamkeen with the introduction of "The Large Enterprise Support Scheme". "The Scheme is a Tamkeen's strategic initiative that has been developed specifically to support large business Enterprises across all sectors to uplift their capabilities and boost performance," he added.

Awal Gulf Manufacturing co, which specialises in the manufacturing of air conditioners and other electrical equipment, received Tamkeen's support to purchase a number of Machinery and equipment to increase production capacity and enhance on-site industrial performance.

Mr. Adel Matter, Awal Gulf, Managing Director, said, " We are very pleased to be the first company to join this initiative which, we believe will bring new growth opportunities for the company and for Bahrainis. Through Tamkeen's large Enterprise Support Scheme, large enterprises can now keep abreast of the latest trends of industry evolution."

Tamkeen had announced earlier this year that it has allocated a total of BD104m dedicated to human capital development and enterprise support of the private sector. Around BD51m have been allocated to the various enterprise support programmes for the year 2012.

Tamkeen's Enterprise Development Support Programme includes: the Business Development Scheme (Istishara) to assist in the strategic planning and determining vision and goals of the organisation, the Technical Assistance Scheme (Techania) to provide support for the purchase of latest enterprise-related tools and equipment, the Quality Management Systems Scheme (Jawda) to assist in the design and application of world-class quality standards, the Growth Assistance Scheme (Tarweej) to support enterprises' participation in local and international events and exhibitions, and the Marketing Assistance Scheme (Tasweeq) to provide support in the design and implementation of effective marketing and communications strategies, in addition to the Large Enterprises Support Scheme which allows Large Enterprises to acquire industrial machinery and technology.
